Len Blavatniks continues his Philanthropy in 2016

Len Blavatnik is an American billionaire whose holdings cover the range from media, telecoms to chemicals and natural resources. He is the founder and chairman of Access Industries, his holdings company through which he runs his business empire.

No Blavatnik news would be complete without the mention of this two most famous acquisitions. The first is the legendary stake in LyondellBasell Industries, which is one of the largest independent chemical companies. The second is Warner Music Group which has one of the best catalogs in the music industry and is poised to gain the most of the move to streaming music.

He is also an active philanthropist. In addition to the Blavatnik award for young scientists, he has contributed to many educational, cultural and charity organizations. The National Gallery of Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Tate, the National Portrait Gallery, the Royal Academy of Arts and the Prince’s Trust are just a few beneficiaries of his contributions.

This year has seen two significant contributions from the Blavatnik family foundation. The first was an additional $10 million grant to advance entrepreneurship in the life sciences at Yale and to expedite the development, application, and commercialization of breakthrough research. It is an extension of the Blavatnik Fund for Innovation at Yale.

The other is the donation of $15 to Carnegie Hall to fund the continued growth of the Hall’s artistic, educational, and digital initiatives. It is also important to note that he is one of the trustees at Carnegie Hall and is a Found Patron of the National Youth Orchestra of the USA.
